Struggle before success : The steps before the first step

The steps before the first step

You cannot succeed without getting failed. You cannot become great without suffering or cannot win without losing first. That means you have to do struggle before success. The battle is the cost of success that you have to pay. Success has no shortcut. It is a journey, not an event. You will face unpredictable changes, ups, and downs on this journey, but the struggle is necessary to reach your desired destination.

So many people want their stories to be better than living right now. They want to chase their dreams and live a comfortable life but fail to achieve anything because the fear of struggle limits them. They desire to enlighten their lives, but they are not willing to work before success. For such people, Austin Kleon says, “Lots of people want to be the noun without doing the verb. They want the job title without the work.”

Now, if you think success comes easy, you are mistaken. Even the big successful names of the world have a backstory rooted in struggles and failures.

  • The world’s wealthiest man Bill Gates failed when he launched his first company called Traf-O-Data.
  • Walt Disney, the creative genius, failed multiple times before his films started getting recognition.
  • The founder of the well-known chocolate Hershey’s founder Milton Hershey failed three ventures before the success of Hershey.

Taking the first step in the struggle before success

It’s genuinely fascinating to see some people embrace every challenge that comes their way. If you want to reach your destination, you have to go through each step like in alphabets. If you’re going to get “Z,” you have to start at “A” and go through all the alphabets to make it to the end. You cannot avoid the struggle before success.

The destination may seem blurry and distant, but it will become more evident as you walk on the path towards success. But to reach the goal, you have to set out on the journey first. You have to start somewhere. As Charles Atlas says, “Step by step and the thing is done.”

Like you all, I have been through the same dilemma several times about where to start and how to start. I have learned over time that whatever journey you want to embark on, the real motivation can only come within. Thus motivate yourself and follow these few steps that helped me in my life journey.

Be aware of yourself

Self-awareness is bliss and much needed for success in life. Know yourself and find out what’s keeping you from moving ahead. The more you know yourself, the better envision you can have about life. When you know what you want, choices become accessible, and you can take the first step without struggling too much.

Take the action to work before success

Dreams are hollow until pursued. Don’t just sit there planning about your future success. Get up and take action. You cannot reach “Z” if you don’t start at A. Take little steps and keep yourself focused.

Accept the sufferings in the struggle before success

“Strength and growth come only through continuous effort and struggle.”Napoleon Hill.

Every successful person has faced struggles before success, and the battle is an essential part of this journey. Don’t resist the work and suffering you meet; instead, accept them and turn them into new opportunities.

Don’t give up

You are struggling every day, and there is no direction, and you are feeling hopeless. During these times, you have to get a hold of yourself and stay consistent. The day you set a goal for yourself, you are among that 20% of people on their way to success, unlike the 80% who don’t have a purpose.

So whenever you are about to give up, keep in mind that a Harvard business study reported that among the people who have a goal in life, 14% have ten times more chances of succeeding in life. What else do you need!

Ending thoughts

The journey will be difficult. There will be a lot of struggle before success. You will be hated for no reason. People will discourage you, and you will lose relationships. You will fail multiple times. You might want to give up every time. But remember, when you fall, you rise afterward.

Failure is a stepping stone to success. The first few steps are the hardest, but once you get the hang of the process, it will lead you to the destination you always wanted to go to. So keep struggling! You are almost there!

Let me know if any of the steps mentioned earlier helped you. I’ll be glad to share more with you.
